The groom plays a vital role in the upkeep of the racehorses in the stables. The groom takes care of the racehorse by making sure that it is in the correct emotional state and appearance. The groom in turn spends most of the time in the stables with the racehorse as compared to any other person. He also performs regular checkups on the horse to make sure that the hooves and coat are in the best state possible. It is the groom who usually wash down the racehorse after a race and exercise it regularly.
The wellbeing of a racehorse in the stables is usually the main job of the stablehand. The stable hand is usually the one who cleans the stables and ensures that it is clean at all times. The stable hand also mucks out the horse boxes and feeds the horse and is always present in the races. The stable hand builds a close bond with the racehorse and forms a special connection with the horse that would be essential at times since he spends a lot of time with the horses while carrying out his duties.
Health is very important to any living creature so as to perform their duties most diligently. It is important that racehorses stay in the utmost state both physically, mentally and emotionally. A vet plays a very essential part in ensuring that the horse stays in the best health condition and issues the correct things the horse needs to remain in shape especially for feeds. The vet carries out regular checkups and administer drugs to cure the horse in case of any disease raised by the groom.
Racehorses are bred to specifically participate in races and must therefore be fit for the races. The racehorse must have daily exercises to be fit. It is the trainer that ensures that the horse is fit to participate in the races. The trainer is usually someone who has experience with racehorses and is trained to handle racehorses.
